Holiday Inn DFW South
The Holiday Inn is a six story, full service hotel located between the DFW airport and the sports and entertainment facilities for the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Tx.
Originally designed as a four story wood structure, the owners opted to maximize the square footage by converting to steel and elevating to six stories. With firecode limiting the height of the building, the floor systems were designed using Versa-Dek® rather than floor joists.
The open spaces of the first floor required structural steel support provided by SMARTBEAM® a composite floor system from CMC.
From the first floor up, all structural walls were delivered as panels. By adding SigmaStud® from The Steel Network where needed, all studs remained 16 gauge and lighter. Shear panels using StiffWall® were built into the panels.
